MG5 EV SE Long Range

It’s easy to see why the MG5 is an enticing proposition for buyers, because it offers a huge amount of practicality for the same price as a small electric hatchback. Even with the arrival of the Peugeot e-308 SW in recent months, that car’s significantly higher list price means it can’t compete with the MG for value, especially when it doesn’t offer much more in terms of interior space or battery range.

The MG5’s official 250-mile range will be enough for most people’s needs, while its performance is sprightlier than the Toyota Corolla Touring Sport’s, with a 0-60mph time of 7.3sec.

It’s also pretty good to drive, remaining quiet at motorway speeds, while its soft suspension results in a fairly smooth ride. Meanwhile, precise steering and a reassuring level of grip provide safe and reassuring handling. As a no-nonsense electric alternative to the Corolla, the MG5 is extremely easy to recommend.
