It's easy to see why the Fiat Panda has proved to be such a popular car for city driving during its time with us: the upright seating position, supple ride and light steering all make for easy urban use.
The Panda won't cost you much to run either on paper the 68bhp 1.2-litre petrol we chose isn't as efficient as the 0.9 Twinair, but in real-world testing they're not that far apart.
However, while the running costs are low, the Panda's pricing is rather high given the equipment levels. Granted, you might not expect alloys in the cheapest trim, but we also had to do without air-conditioning and remote locking.
Still, it's easy to like the Panda's unashamed ruggedness and focus on everyday utility. There's space for everyday clutter around the cabin, and the dashboard finish seems incredibly hardy in the face of potential scratching and scuffing.
