What Car?'s first ever Green Awards

What Car?, in association with Warranty Direct, will be revealing the winners of the first ever What Car? Green Awards at The British International Motor Show.

The event will take place at 5pm on July 22 2008.

In response to overwhelming requests from readers for information on green cars, the awards will comprise 10 categories and an overall Green Car of the Year.

The latest environmentally friendly cars and technology will also be showcased in the Co-operative Insurance Greener Driving Pavilion, where What Car? is media partner.

Visitors will be able to obtain hands-on experience with the latest green technology and learn greener driving techniques in the Pavilion. What Car?s Green Car of the Year will also be displayed throughout the show.

Steve Fowler, What Car? Group Editor, commented: 'With increasing environmental concerns among car buyers, not to mention green taxes and spiralling fuel costs, the time is right for a recognised Green Awards. Were delighted to be able to present them in the Greener Driving Pavilion at The British International Motor Show.

'The focus of these Awards will obviously be on a cars environmental credentials, but the winners will also be great cars to own and run, without any compromises.'
