Cleaner cars must be good to drive

Drivers are only willing to pay for more efficient, less polluting cars if theyre still good to drive, a survey by BMW has revealed.

'Its all very well to offer more efficient products,' said BMW marketing director Richard Hudson. 'but unless the quality and performance also progress, they simply wont sell.'

The research also revealed that while three-quarters of drivers are looking to buy a lower-emission vehicle, 59% are interested in saving money, and just 13% are motivated by environmental issues.
