Estates and pickups

Mercedes-Benz X-Class (late 2017)

The new X-Class is the first Mercedes-Benz pickup truck to go on sale in the UK. It's based on the Nissan Navara and top-end versions will have a V6 diesel engine and four-wheel drive. The X-Class will be capable of towing 1.1 tonnes but, despite its workhorse purpose, the X-Class will still have a plush interior. Buyers will be able to customise the interior and exterior look of their cars with styling accessories borrowed from the C-Class and V-Class, as well as pick-up truck staples such as loadbed covers. Price (est) from Β£25,000

Renault Alaskan (summer 2018)

Also based on the Nissan Navara is the debut pickup truck from Renault. The Alaskan has a ground clearance of 230mm and can tow trailers of up to 3.5 tonnes – a figure Renault claims is best in class – and its load bed features four quick-fit hooks to secure loads and a 12V power supply. The new pickup is powered by a choice of two turbocharged diesel four-cylinder engines taken from Renault's Master van, with 158bhp and 187bhp. Buyers can choose from a six-speed manual or seven-speed automatic gearbox. As standard, the Alaskan is rear-wheel drive, but four-wheel drive is available as an option. Price (est) From Β£24,000
