I promised in my first Cupra Born report to update you on whether a blind-spot I’d noticed to my front left – caused by the car’s thick front pillars – would prove to be a problem in the long term. Well, the simple answer is: no.

I’ve driven the Born hundreds of miles now, and only find myself having to lean forwards to get a better view in situations where I should be slowing down to take extra care anyway. It’s something to check on a test drive if you’re tall and less mobile than average, but for me, it’s not a problem.

Coincidentally, the Euro NCAP safety results for the Cupra Born have just been released, and it gained five stars. The inspectors’ report shows that for a car that’s small by today’s SUV-dominated standards, it provides good protection – although that’s one aspect of the car I don’t plan to test myself.
