The Suzuki's 1.6-litre diesel engine is our pick. It doesn't have to worked as hard as the petrol and is pretty fuel-efficient. Over the year we managed to get 57.6mpg, particularly impressive considering most of the driving was done in town.
All SX4 S-Cross have a large boot with rear seats that fold practically flat. Also the dashboard is well laid out and all the controls are easy to use.
SZ5 trim is the top-of-the-range trim and comes with a generous specification.
Adults will feel cramped in the rear seats because the panoramic sunroof eats into the available headroom. The dashboard may be functional but some of the plastics feel cheap.
The SX4 S-Cross isn't as quiet as some rivals, especially at high revs.
Should I add any options?
SZ5 trim comes with everything you need including alloy wheels, Bluetooth, climate control, keyless entry, all-round parking sensors, a reversing camera, leather seats and, to top it all off, a panoramic sunroof.
