We recently drove the new Toyota Prius+ and felt that while it’s a good car in isolation, its hefty price tag let it down when compared to rivals. However, despite its recent release, there are already some great discounts available online for the hybrid MPV.

The new 4.2in touchscreen infotainment system is a big step up from the previous-generation system and is easy to use on the move.

The Prius+ has a roomy cabin that offers enough room for six-footers in the front and middle rows, and there’s even enough space to sit three adults next to each other in the middle row. The seats move forwards and backwards easily to help load big items into the back or give more room for passengers.

Even with this new model's raft of improvements, the Prius+ still trails its rivals. The Citroën Grand C4 Picasso and Seat Alhambra both offer more space and better interiors.

Should I add any options?

Entry-level Icon trim still comes with a lot of kit as standard, including 16in alloys, automatic lights and wipers, Bluetooth, DAB radio, keyless entry and start, rear privacy glass, cruise control and heated front seats. There's a number of different paint options available at prices ranging from £495 to £650, as well as some entertainment packs priced from £400 to £1250.

Anything else I should know?

The discounted price includes a £1000 discount that is only available when taking out PCP finance. If not taking out this finance option, add £1000 to the quoted price.
