Deal of the Day: Audi A4 Avant
Save almost £4000 off the list price of the Audi A4 Avant 2.0 TDi S Line...
The A4 Avant shares all that's great about the regular A4 saloon, but adds the practicality that comes from having a much bigger boot. We're fans of most of the A4's engines, but the diesel contingent - such as the 2.0-litre option we're recommending here - are among the best around.
Even on standard Comfort Dynamic suspension, the A4 Avant rides well and is generally smoother on the road than many of its estate car rivals.
The interior of the A4 Avant is identical to that of the A4 saloon - that is to say, it's very good indeed. All of the controls are within easy reach of the driver, and it's only offset pedals that blight the experience.
If you're after the most dynamic and engaging driving experience, then it's best to look at rivals like the BMW 3 Series Touring. That's not to say the A4 Avant isn't engaging, it just isn't as fun as the BMW.
It's a similar story if you're looking for the estate with the biggest load space, because while the A4 Avant does have a large boot - enough to satisfy most families, anyway - it's beaten by rivals like the Volkswagen Passat Estate.
Audi knows the A4 Avant is a desirable car in this market, and hence the cost of getting into one can be rather expensive. Thankfully, though, the A4 Avant has some of the best resale values in this class.
Should I add any options?
If you're regularly venturing off the beaten track or just want the added security of four-wheel drive, then Audi's Quattro system is worth looking at. Most engine options in the A4 range are available with the Quattro system.
What are its rivals?
The Audi A4 Avant is priced to compete directly against the likes of the Mercedes-Benz C-Class Estate and BMW 3 Series Touring. However, it's also worth looking at slightly cheaper alternatives, such as the Volkswagen Passat Estate.
