We recently drove the new third generation Kia Sorento and were impressed with the updated styling, chassis and steering as well as improvements in the cabin.
With the new Sorento due in 2015, good deals on the current model are now available.

We like the Sorento for its spacious cabin and generous standard equipment, as well as its practicality.
There’s plenty of head- and legroom in all seats, but tall adults may have to stoop slightly in the rearmost seats. Even with this back row in use, there is enough boot space available, and when they aren’t in use they can be easily folded flat to increase boot capacity.
The entry-level KX-1 is very well equipped with alloys, air-conditioning, cruise control, and automatic lights all coming as standard, and Kia’s seven-year warranty is something none of the Sorento’s rivals can match.
The 2.2-litre diesel engine is a good performer, too. It’s strong, flexible, refined and rarely needs to be worked hard, but when it does it’s hushed and smooth.
The Sorento is let down by the cabin. Although it comes with plenty of standard equipment, the interior feels cheap.
It’s also not as practical as other MPVs available at this price and some rival SUVs, like the Hyundai Santa Fe, are better to drive.
Should I add any options?
KX-1 trim has enough kit, but if you want to add even more then KX-2 brings heated leather seats, privacy glass and rain-sensing wipers while the range-topping KX-3 has larger alloys, Xenon headlights, panoramic glass roof, electric seats and sat-nav.
We recommend sticking with the generous entry-level trim because the prices increase sharply the further up the range you go.
