In our recent group test, the Suzuki Vitara went up against the Skoda Yeti and Mazda CX-3 in a battle of family SUVs - click here for our findings in full.

The Vitara is practical, well equipped and offers good value for money, especially when you take into account this saving of more than £1600.

For

The Vitara’s cabin may not be the most exciting place to be but it is spacious and comfortable and the dashboard is well laid out. Suzuki has also been generous when it comes to kit. The SZ5 model comes with alloy wheels, Bluetooth, climate control, cruise control, DAB, a rear parking camera and sat-nav, as well as LED headlights, suede seat fabric, keyless entry with start button, adaptive cruise control and a panoramic sunroof.

Practicality-wise, the Vitara offers a decent sized boot and rear seats that split and fold pretty much flat. It also comes with a height-adjustable boot floor as standard.

Against

While the controls are well positioned and everything works well, the plastics are hard and feel a bit low-rent. It’s also annoying that the touch-screen infotainment system attracts so many finger prints.

The Vitara isn’t as refined as rivals. A fair bit of wind and road noise enters the cabin on the motorway.

Should I add any options?

Metallic paint will cost you £430 or £800 if you want to go with a two-tone colour option.
