The car: Volvo XC60 D4 181 SE Nav
The saving: £6360
The discounted price: £26,100

The latest D4 diesel is strong and flexible, and much more refined than the engine it replaces. We think this manual version is the best bet, because the automatic gearbox still isn’t as good as the eight-speed auto in the BMW X3.
Cabin fit and finish is first rate, the seats are exceptionally supportive, and there’s plenty of room in the back seats for two adults or three children to sit comfortably on long journeys.
The XC60's handling is no match for the best rivals. The steering feels slow and heavy, while the supple suspension means it leans through corners more than rivals such as the Audi Q5 and BMW X3. While the dashboard feels solidly built, it’s still too cluttered with buttons.
Should I add any options?
SE Nav trim includes six airbags, climate and cruise controls, automatic lights and wipers, a powered tailgate, rear parking sensors, digital radio and Bluetooth.
Some of the option packs offer good value for money. Heated seats, windscreen and washer jets come together for £525. If you like your creature comforts, you can add a heated steering wheel for £200. A Family Pack that includes integrated booster cushions and electric child locks costs £295.

You can save a further £750 if you take out a finance deal with the dealer.
