Design your own McLaren supercar

Fancy a new McLaren MP4-12C supercar? You can spec one yourself thanks to the company's new online configurator.

The system was developed in conjunction with McLaren's design and engineering teams, and will be linked directly to 35 McLaren retailers in 19 worldwide, who will be appointed from May this year.

You can choose from the millions of possible combinations of trim and finishes - and, to see how it works, there's also a film current McLaren F1 drivers, Jenson Button and Lewis Hamilton, trying the system.

And the options are
Among the options are 17 exterior paint colours: blue, silver or white (which are the standard colours), plus eight 'Special' finishes (including McLaren Orange, the colour of the companys racing cars in the 1960s and 1970s) and six 'Elite' colours, which provide the highest quality finish.

You can choose from five leather trims for the drivers seat, door trim and dashboard.

An IRIS information system is available as an option. This allows voice control of a navigation system, and doubles the hard disc drive's capacity to 80GB. It also allows access to e-mail and lets you transfer music and other files to the hard disc wirelessly.

Finally, if the standard car isnt quick enough, McLaren offers performance upgrades such as a lightweight sports exhaust system, ceramic brake discs and two forged wheel options. You can also specify the mirror casings, engine bay panels and engine covers in carbonfibre.
