The Driving Standards Agency (DSA) has said driving test candidates, who have booked to sit a practical test on Monday, November 10, should attend despite the threat of industrial action by some examiners.
A nationwide strike is planned by the Public and Commercial Services union (PCS), which has some driving examiners among its membership.
The DSAs chief executive Rosemary Thew said: 'Not all examiners are members of the PCS union and even if they are, we cannot be sure that they will not turn up for work. We therefore want candidates to attend so that practical tests can be delivered if possible.'
A new test date will automatically be booked for candidates whose appointment is cancelled due to the strike.
Candidates who turn up to find there is no instructor will be able to reclaim any expenses incurred.
Theory tests are not affected and will take place as planned.
