Electric Car Awards 2020: the contenders

We'll name the best fully electric and plug-in hybrid cars on sale next month, and this is every car in contention...

Electric Car Awards 2020: the contenders

Electric Car Awards logo

What Car? has held an annual Car of the Year Awards since 1978, with this including an Electric Car Award since 2011.

However, with electrified cars now coming in every shape and size – and available to suit every budget – we’ve decided it’s time to name the best models across individual categories, to support the increasing number of people who want a more environmentally friendly car. We’ve not just looked at fully electric cars, either, but also plug-in hybrids that are capable of at least 20 miles of zero-emissions motoring between charges.

Take a look through our full list of contenders for the What Car? Electric Car Awards, held in association with myenergi.
