The engines - future
* Based on Fiat 500 * Estimated at 7600...
Longer-term, the Fiat engine pool will provide Ford with plenty of other options should it want to add sporty or high-economy Econetic models to the Ka line-up.
There's the 99bhp 1.4-litre turbo that Fiat has used to create the 500 Abarth and which Ford could borrow to replace today's 94bhp 1.6-litre Sportka.
Fiat is also working on a new range of small-capacity petrol turbo engines which replace conventional mechanical valvegear with valves operated by air.
These Multi-air units will be light and compact and ideally suited to a low-fuel-consumption, low-CO2 Ka.
