Volkswagen has revealed a new entry-level VW Golf, with prices starting at 12,995.
The Golf Twist comes in three- or five-door forms and is powered by a 78bhp 1.4-litre petrol engine. Drive is transferred to the front wheels through a six-speed manual gearbox.
It can travel from 0-62mph in 13.9 seconds and go on to a top speed of 107mph. Average economy is 44.1mpg, and CO2 emissions are 149g/km.
The Twist is based on the Golf S, but gets an additional 700 worth of standard equipment. This includes 16-inch alloys, and an RCD 310 stereo with MDI multimedia connectivity.
Standard safety kit includes stability control and seven airbags.
Savings
Prices start at 12,995 for the three-door car, with the five-door 585 more. This equates to an 1885 saving on the previous entry-level model, the Golf S.
