There will be three trim lines with each body style.
Expression is the entry level, although climate control, stability and traction control, six airbags, heated mirrors and four electric windows are fitted even at this price point. Coupes will have alloy wheels, too.
Dynamique is the sportier second tier, with 16- or 17-inch alloys, Bluetooth phone connection, a leather-rimmed wheel, front foglights and automatic lights and wipers.
Privilege is the luxury grade and includes rear parking sensors and dual-zone climate control.
Prices have increased substantially to pay for all this the entry-level Expression hatch is around 800 more than its smaller-engined, but identically powered, predecessor.
Even bigger differences are likely to be found on Coupes, which are expected to be up to 500 more than the five-door whereas the old three-door Megane was 400 or so less.
The posh new look, uprated specification and promised sharper road manners are going to have to earn their keep.
