Ford will add a turbocharged 2.5-litre petrol engine to the Kuga 4x4 range later this year.

The engine, which will be revealed at the Paris motor show next month, averages 28.5mpg and emits 234g/km of carbon dioxide when connected to a six-speed manual gearbox.

When it's fitted to the optional five-speed automatic gearbox, the engine manages 27.4mpg and emits 244g/km of CO2.

Ford will also launch the Individual range, which will increase the number of trim options available to Kuga buyers.

These will include white trim details, chrome exterior styling, a rear spoiler body kit and 20-inch alloys.
