The Ioniq’s 8.0in touchscreen doesn’t quite have the visual impact of the Golf’s in terms of crispness or responsiveness to touch, but it’s just as simple to use. It doesn’t want for features, either: sat-nav, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a DAB radio and a USB port all come as standard. Unlike in the Golf GTE, you also get wireless smartphone charging (not all phones are compatible) and an upgraded Infinity sound system as standard.
An 8.0in touchscreen is standard but can be upgraded to 9.2in (pictured) with a gesture control function for £1325. We wouldn’t bother. Sat-nav, Bluetooth, a DAB radio and a USB port are all included as standard, anyway, although the screen isn’t flanked by physical shortcut buttons and the touch equivalents can be difficult to hit precisely on the move. The main on-screen menus are intuitive, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included.
