The Mercedes S63 AMG Coupe has been revealed ahead of its international public debut at the New York motor show in April 2014.
The AMG version of the new S-Class Coupe comes with the same 577bhp 5.5-litre petrol engine as the S63 Saloon, and the V8 biturbo unit covers the 0-62mph dash in as little as 3.9 seconds and goes on to an electronically limited 155mph top speed.
The S63 Coupe matches the 27.9mpg of the S63 saloon, with CO2 emissions of 237g/km.
It comes with a seven-speed sports transmission as standard, which can be set to three different modes: C (Controlled Efficiency), S (Sport) and M (Manual). It also comes equipped with engine stop-start technology as standard. These three modes also affect the exhaust; in S and M the exhaust flaps open earlier to provide a sportier sound.
The S63 Coupe also comes with Mercedes' Magic Body Control suspension, and a curve-tilting function that allows the car to lean into corners. This allows the occupants to remain more composed.
AMG-specific 19-inch alloy wheels come as standard, along with several AMG styling details. The Coupe gets chrome detailing around the grille, a gloss black diffuser at the rear, AMG side sill panels, V8 Biturbo badging and a boot spoiler lip.
Inside it gets electrically adjustable AMG sports seats finished in nappa leather, a sports steering wheel, AMG badging on the seats and dash and aluminium gearshift paddles.
The Mercedes S63 AMG Coupe is set to make its public debut at the New York motor show in April, before going on sale in the UK at the end of 2014. Pricing is set to be announced closer to its on-sale date, but is expected to start at around £120,000.
