Driving position, visibility, build quality
Neither of these SUVs is particularly jaw-dropping inside, but the ZS has the Duster beaten for the quality of its materials. The ZS has soft-touch plastic on its dashboard, with some reasonably upmarket materials used elsewhere, too.
In the Duster, you’ll find unappealing grey plastic just about everywhere you look. Mostly, that’s forgiveable for the price; the only real annoyance is the hard plastic on the door armrests, because resting your elbow on them isn’t comfortable.
Both of our contenders have somewhat flawed driving positions. The Duster’s seat isn’t height-adjustable and its pedals don’t line up with the seat, although at least its steering wheel adjusts for both height and reach.
