Our verdict

It may be the oldest model here, but the Q2 takes the win. Yes, the ride is a little firmer than we’d like, but the flipside of this is keen handling that makes it the most enjoyable of our trio to drive. Inside, you’ll find a high-quality interior and a brilliant infotainment system, although bear in mind that you’ll probably want to add a few options.

The silver medal goes to the T-Roc. Indicative pricing suggests it’ll be the cheapest of the three to buy, yet it has the most standard equipment. There’s a bit more rear seat space than you get in the Q2 and it’s a little comfier. It’s just a shame that the interior feels so cheap and that the infotainment isn’t easier to use on the move.

And the Countryman? Well, it’s certainly the most practical, with the biggest boot, the most rear leg room and the most flexible rear seats. It’s the nippiest of our trio, too. Sadly, its jittery ride, nervous handling and stingy standard equipment mean it has to finish last.
