Nissan Leaf: exclusive reader test team event

Would you like to be one of the first people in the UK to see the all-new Nissan Leaf electric hatchback?...

We’re offering a small number of What Car? readers the opportunity to attend an exclusive preview of this exciting new model on Tuesday 19 August in Battersea, London.

The new Nissan Leaf is the third-generation model of what is widely considered to be the first mass-market electric car, and it brings significant upgrades over its predecessors.

It’ll come with a choice of either a 52kWh battery or a 75kWh one. The smaller battery is expected to offer around 270 miles of range, which means it’ll be on par with the very impressive Kia EV3.

The Leaf’s larger battery should be pretty efficient, with an official 375 miles of range. That’s further than you'll get from most rivals, including the Skoda Elroq and Volkswagen ID 3. It’s also a huge improvement on the outgoing Leaf, which in its most efficient form could only manage up to 239 miles.

Inside, the Leaf gets an upmarket interior kitted out with two 14.3in screens for driving instruments and infotainment. Opt for anything above entry-level trim and you’ll get a host of Google apps including Google Maps and Google Assistant.

Prices for the new Nissan Leaf have yet to be confirmed, but we expect it to be priced competitively with the Kia EV3 and VW ID 3. Those rivals start in the low £30,000 range, and we expect the range-topping Leaf to nudge £40,000.
