Scrappage scheme cash has given Nissan's June sales figures a boost.

A 9% jump over figures for June 2008 resulted in a total of 7149 cars being sold. Nissan says that finance offers and trade-in incentives have also helped to boost sales.

Scrappage deals apply to the entire Nissan range, but Nissan has also gone above and beyond the standard scheme by also offering a £2000 discount for buyers trading in cars between eight and 10 years old.

The best-seller was the Micra, although sales of the Qashqai and Qashqai +2 combined accounted for just over a third of sales.

Top five Nissan cars sold in June 2009
1 Micra % of total sales 27% (1927 sales)
2 Qashqai % of total sales 26% (1879 sales)
3 Note % of total sales 23% (1672 sales)
4 Pixo % of total sales 10% (742 sales)
5 Qashqai +2 % of total sales 7% (513 sales)

Nissan UK's managing director, Paul Willcox, said: 'Everyone here at Nissan is proud to be one of the few brands to have made positive growth in June.

'It's been one of the toughest periods for new car sales we've ever known, but we are in a better position than most, with high quality, popular models built here in the UK offering exactly what customers are looking for.'
