BMW X3

Our choice: buy new

While your money goes a lot further in the used car market, and the XC90 we've found is both our recommended version and a lot of car for your budget, it's hard to ignore the newer and more comfortable X3.

It's spacious even by the standards of other large SUVs, has a supremely comfortable driving position and comes with one of the most advanced infotainment systems around right now.

Safety kit is excellent, too, and although some of the most advanced assistance systems are optional, they are resonably priced for the most part.

Our recommendation, then, is to buy new.
