Porsche launches 911 GT3 RS 4.0
* Four-litre engine for 911 * Now with 493bhp * On sale July from 128,466...
Does your Porsche 911 GT3 RS not quite cut the mustard? Fear not because Porsche is launching the special-edition GT3 RS 4.0.
Limited to just 600 cars worldwide, the GT3 RS 4.0 replaces the sold-out GT3 RS and comes with a 4.0-litre six-cylinder engine from the GT3 RSR racing car.
While the 'standard' GT3 RS was powered by a 444bhp 3.8-litre, engine the GT3 RS 4.0 has 493bhp. A manual six-speed sports gearbox helps the car from standstill to 62mph in just 3.9 seconds a tenth of a second faster than the GT3 RS. Top speed remains unchanged at 193mph.
The suspension set-up has been revised and further aerodynamic tweaks make the car even more suited to the racetrack.
Emphasising that the GT3 RS 4.0 is no Sunday-afternoon tourer, the interior looks like a race car's, with carbonfibre detailing, a half roll-cage, seatbelt harnesses, a fire extinguisher and a battery cut-off switch.
The car comes only in 'Carrara White.' This is not a spelling mistake and has nothing to do with Carrera. Carrara is a type of marble from Italy.
All this comes at a price the GT3 RS 4.0 will cost from 128,466 when it goes on sale in July almost 20,000 more than the car it replaces.
