Those looking for a stylish and fast premium SUV that’s good to drive could do a lot worse than the BMW X4. It’s great to drive, is fairly practical and comes with an extremely generous standard kit list.
Unfortunately for the X4, the Porsche Macan is even better and just edges the win. It might not be as well equipped or as spacious in the back, but it’s even better to drive, more refined, has a plusher interior and will cost you less to own over three years.

1st – Porsche Macan
For Fun handling; high-quality interior; superior refinement; slow depreciation
Against No discounts; not as well equipped; a bit tight in the back
Verdict Fantastic to drive and great to live with
2nd – BMW X4

Against Shallow boot; wind and engine noise; faster depreciation
Verdict A quality SUV that’s good to drive, but the Macan is the better all-rounder
