Promoted: All-New Nissan LEAF Intelligent Mobility

The all-new Nissan LEAF is no ordinary car. It’s intelligent. At every point on every journey, the LEAF is working out the safest, most efficient and most comfortable way of getting you and your passengers to your destination.

Nissan calls this revolutionary concept ‘intelligent mobility’. In the stunning new LEAF, this begins with intelligent power. A larger 110kW motor delivers 147 horsepower, and boosts acceleration by 15% and traffic-merging mid-range power by 30% to deliver a sporty and exciting drive.

But that’s just the start of this new LEAF’s talents. It also has ProPILOT, a 360-degree shield of driving support technologies activated by a button on the steering wheel.

At the front, Intelligent Cruise Control won’t allow the LEAF to get any nearer to a vehicle ahead, once one of three preset distances have been selected. Automatic steering keeps the LEAF centred in its lane, even if the road isn’t straight, while Forward Emergency Braking works with a collision warning system to automatically slow or stop the LEAF if there’s a chance of hitting another car – or pedestrian – at speeds up to 50mph.

If traffic stops for less than 3 seconds, ProPILOT will automatically get you moving again, slowing or speeding up your LEAF to match traffic movement.

At the side and rear, Lane Keep Assist, Blind Spot Intervention and Cross Traffic Alert warn the LEAF of unseen cars in the next lane or behind it during reversing, automatically steering or braking the car to maintain safety.

The LEAF understands and reacts to traffic signs and light conditions too.

Range anxiety is taking another step towards the history books with the new LEAF. The 33% extra capacity of the new 40kWh battery extends its potential full-charge range to 235 miles NEDC. Welcome to the world of intelligent, long-distance electric motoring, in the All-New Nissan LEAF.

E-Pedal: moving towards one-pedal driving

Making its debut on the All-New Nissan LEAF is e-Pedal, a feature that allows you to drive using only one pedal. With e-Pedal activated you can trust the LEAF to look after all acceleration and braking needs through the throttle pedal. Just lift your foot for automatic braking combined with power regeneration.

The e-Pedal will even stop and hold the LEAF on a hill. The e-Pedal system makes everyday driving incredibly simple, smooth and relaxing – and can potentially extend your LEAF’s range too.

No fuel is good fuel

Both Nissan and What Car? are committed to helping drivers understand the real cost of motoring. True MPG is What Car?’s guide to how many miles a petrol, diesel or hybrid car really does to the gallon. Still, when it comes to fuel efficiency, no petrol. diesel or hybrid engine can beat the Nissan LEAF: it uses no combustible fuel at all.
