Each car is road-tested by engineers, given a thorough pre-delivery inspection and valet, and subjected to an independent history check with verified mileage.

Rolls-Royce sales and marketing director Jolyon Nash said: 'Our customers expect the very best motor cars in the world and we are pleased to be able to offer the same support and peace of mind for approved pre-owned cars that we offer for new vehicles.'

Pick up a bargain used Rolls-Royce
There are a few bargains to be had through the Provenance scheme including a 58-plate Phantom Coupe with just 1546 miles on the clock. Rather than the new list price of 313,200, however, the Berkeley Square dealership in London is asking just 219,000 for the car, a saving of nearly 100,000.

The Sunningdale dealership has a pair of 08-plate Phantoms, both from 179,500. One is a standard wheelbase saloon with 12,819 miles on the clock, and nearly 106,000 less than list, and the other a Coupe with 18,911 miles covered and 133,700 less than new.

If you want a Drophead Coupe you can pick one up with a polished steel bonnet and teak deck from Edinburgh for 199,950. With 14,810 miles under its wheels, it's 132,450 less than a new model.
