Seat Ecomotive range expands

Seat's green brand Ecomotive is getting bigger.

Three new Ecomotive models will be shown at the Frankfurt motor show next week all-new versions of the Altea and Altea XL, and an updated version of the Leon Ecomotive.

Latest diesel engine
All three new Ecomotive models use the same engine the latest VW Group 1.6-litre 104bhp turbodiesel with common-rail fuel injection.

They have a display that indicates the most efficient point to change gear and a system that recovers energy when the driver lifts off the throttle or uses the brakes. Low-friction tyres also cut down on drag, and therefore fuel consumption.

The Altea and Altea XL both emit 119g/km of CO2, but the Leon goes further, thanks to the addition of an engine start-stop system that lowers emissions to just 99g/km.

All three new models are due to go on sale early in 2010. Prices have yet to be confirmed.
