The forthcoming Skoda Octavia Greenline is set to have impressive economy figures when it goes on sale next year.
It will be powered by the same 1.6-litre turbodiesel engine currently in the Volkswagen Golf Bluemotion, with a predicted average economy of 88mpg. It will also offer tax-busting CO2 emissions of 87g/km.
At the other end of the scale, senior Skoda sources are not ruling out an even hotter version of the new vRS models launched earlier this week.
A Skoda engineer told What Car? the company is considering hotter versions of both petrol and diesel models, possibly with four-wheel-drive transmission to cope with the extra horsepower and assist handling.
