Should I buy one?

Skoda Octavia vRS 2017 review

As a fast family car, the Octavia vRS ticks a lot of boxes. Diesel-engined models will likely prove more popular overall, but the petrol engine is certainly worthy of consideration for its more impressive power delivery and keen pricing next to its closest rivals. No matter the engine, space and practicality is class leading.

And although it has lived in the shadow of the Golf GTI for much of its existence, there's no doubt that the Skoda is the more practical choice and costs thousands of pounds less than its Volkswagen stablemate. Ultimately, though, the Golf GTI has the upper hand in terms of handling, offering a more engaging and polished experience.
