How much is the road tax on my car each year?
If your car was registered before March 1, 2001, you pay 120 a year for a vehicle with an engine size of 1549cc or less, and 185 for bigger ones; the latter will increase to 200 in 09.
For cars registered after March 1, 2001, the rate you pay depends on its CO2 output, which will be on your V5C registration document and at www.vca.gov.uk.
Our table shows all the charges laid out in the 08 Budget, plus a showroom tax you have to pay from 2010 when registering a new car.
