How does 404bhp under the bonnet of your BMW M2 sound? If it's music to your ears, then you'll enjoy this sporty coupé immensely. It's seriously fast, with grin-inducing performance and entertaining handling, but is also rather practical for a sports car.

Ford Fiesta ST
The Fiesta ST might only have a three-cylinder 1.5-litre petrol engine under it's bonnet, but that is still enough to make this hatchback feel pocket-rocket fast. In fact, the Fiesta ST is excellent to drive, with superb handling and a great driving position. It's one of the best hot hatchbacks around.

The GLA 45 AMG is a big step up from other GLA models, with a 0-62mph sprint time of less than five seconds putting it in an exclusive club of small SUV rivals – the closest of which is Audi's SQ2. Rock up next to a standard Nissan Qashqai at the traffic lights, and you'll leave it for dust when they change to green.

Nissan's two-door performance coupé offers plenty of power for a competitive price, and most versions come well equipped. Its interior is a little low-rent, though.

The result is a hot hatch which feels agile and fun to drive, yet is cheaper than most rivals.
