All new Toyotas will get a five-year warranty as standard from today.

The new warranty replaces the previous three-year/60,000-mile cover. Fully backed by the manufacturer, it covers the car for five years and 100,000 miles if it is serviced in accordance with the Toyota service schedule for the full period.

The introduction of the new warranty follows on from and effectively replaces the companys Your choice, our promise campaign, which started in the spring and offered buyers the choice of a five-year warranty or three years free servicing.

Targeted at new customers
The company says that the new warranty is particularly targeted at buyers who might not have considered the companys cars before, and buyers who might have been put off by the various recalls over the past few months.

Our new five-year warranty is evidence of our commitment to quality and to our customers both those who are loyal to the brand, and those who are considering switching to Toyota for their next car, said Miguel Fonseca, Toyota GB managing director.

There are no plans to extend the warranty on cars from Lexus, Toyotas luxury brand.
