Toyota recalls 2.3 million cars

Toyota is recalling 2.3 million vehicles in the US after the problems with the accelerator pedal sticking.
The manufacturer is renowned for the reliability of its cars, but safety concerns relating to the faulty accelerator pedals prompted the recall. This follows a similar recall involving 4.2 million cars last autumn.
Pedal could 'stick' open
Toyota has said that accelerator pedals could 'in rare instances, mechanically stick in a partially depressed position or return slowly to the idle position'.
A Spokesman for Toyota said the problem was due to the vehicles' pedal mechanism suffering from wear and in some cases becoming stuck.
The cars affected in the US recall are:
• 2005-2010 Avalon
• 2007-2010 Camry
• 2009-2010 Corolla
• 2010 Highlander
• 2009-2010 Matrix
• 2009-2010 RAV4
• 2008-2010 Sequioia.
• 2007-2010 Tundra
Will Toyotas in the UK be recalled?
Toyota does not currently have any plans to recall cars in the UK, but Toyota Europe is investigating whether action needs to be taken.
