The latest Hyundai i10 has just been revealed ahead of its UK launch in January 2014. Prices will start at under £8500 for the five-door city car, undercutting its closest rival the Volkswagen Up.
If you're not in the market for a new car, there's a variety of great used alternatives on the market. Here's some that we found in our classifieds starting at less than £5300:
Fiat 500 1.2 Pop
Fiat's 500 has won over many customers with its retro looks and cheap running costs. This 1.2 Pop is white with a red interior and has done just over 27,000 miles. This 10-plate model costs £6499 and it should prove to be cheap to run as the 1.2-litre petrol engine averages 58.9mpg and emits 113g/km of CO2.
Honda Jazz 1.2 i-VTEC S
The tardis-like Honda Jazz is the size of a city car, with the space and practicality of something from the class above. This '10/60 1.2-litre Jazz in S trim has just 16,500 miles on the clock and is priced at £6274. That's a lot of small car for your money.
Hyundai i10 1.2 Classic
The current Hyundai i10 is one of the best city cars available. It's good to drive, cheap to run and a real bargain to boot. This '11/11 1.2 Classic - which has the added luxury of air-conditioning - has done 23,000 miles and costs £5295. For that you get a great city car that will cost you peanuts to keep on the road.
Kia Picanto 1.0 2 5dr
This five-door Kia Picanto comes in 2 trim which includes air-conditioning, front and rear electric windows and bluetooth. The 1.0-litre petrol engine may not be rapid but it makes the Picanto very economical as it averages 67.3mpg and emits just 99g/km of CO2. This '11/61 car has done nearly 27,000 miles and is a bargain at £6988.
Volkswagen Up 1.0 (60) Take Up 3dr
When the Volkswagen Up was released we named it our Car of the Year 2012 so it's fair to say that we're big fans. The Up is a premium product in a city car footprint. This 1.0-litre petrol Take Up three-door model costs £7490. For that you get a funky-looking small car that is less than a year old and has done just over 5500 miles.
