Vauxhall has denied that its Lifetime warranty advertising campaign has been banned, as reported in some sections of the media.
The manufacturer says the campaign continues to run, albeit with some amendments that were requested by the Advertising Standards Authority.
Some consumers have complained that it cannot be described as a lifetime warranty because it currently covers cars up to only 100,000 miles. However, Vauxhall describes it as 'a warranty, which could last a lifetime.'
Vauxhall managing director Duncan Aldred said the manufacturer is due to give more details on the scheme today. A key area that remains unclear is how much a second owner could have to pay to maintain the cover because it is provided as standard to the first owner only.
Prior to the introduction of Vauxhall's 100,000-mile cover on cars registered from August last year, Kia offered the longest warranty of seven years. Toyota and Hyundai provide a five-year policy.
