Volkswagen launches the new Street Up and Club Up

Volkswagen has revealed two new versions of the Up city car, the Street Up and Club Up, which will be available from dealers in March.

What is it?

The Street Up and Club Up, two new versions of Volkswagen's Up city car. Both are aimed towards the top end of the Up range, just below the top-spec Rock Up.

The focus here is on extra styling and more equipment inside.

What engines can I choose from?

Just the one, a three-cylinder 1.0-litre petrol which produces 74bhp and 70lb ft of torque. It's our pick of the current Up engine range, offering decent refinement and enough power to tackle regular motorway journeys.

Volkswagen says this engine is capable of returning up to 60.1mpg, with CO2 emissions of 108g/km.

How much equipment does it come with?

Both the Street Up and Club Up are based on the current High Up specification, meaning they get air- conditioning, heated front seats, a portable infotainment system and front foglights as standard.

However, both cars also get 16-inch alloy wheels, new paint options, tinted rear windows, bespoke badging, and special cloth upholstery inside, while Street Up models also get chrome accents around the foglights.

How much will it cost?

Prices for the Street Up and Club Up start at £11,995 for the three-door models, rising to £12,370 for the five-door models.

How good are its rivals?

The Volkswagen Up is one of a trio of city cars produced by the Volkswagen Group, the other two being Skoda's Citigo and the Seat Mii. Of the three, the Up is the one to go for, and it fares well against recent arrivals like the new Citroen C1, Toyota Aygo and Renault Twingo, too.
