Review

Although the Nissan Qashqai is no longer our favourite family SUV, it remains a sound proposition. If you choose wisely it's one of the more comfortable cars in the class, and the 1.3 DIG-T 140 petrol engine also impresses. The Seat Ateca and Skoda Karoq are roomier and better to drive, though.

Trim: N-Tec

Special edition N-Tec trim is all about cosmetics, featuring black 19in alloy wheels, a sporty body kit and black roof rails. We’d advise strongly against spending the extra and stick with the mid-range options.

Engine: 1.3 DiG-T

We reckon this entry-level 138bhp petrol engine is the best choice for most buyers. Outright acceleration is brisk enough, but it's this engine’s flexibility – the ease with which you can build speed from low revs in any given gear – that really impresses.
