Review

Although the Nissan Qashqai is no longer our favourite family SUV, it remains a sound proposition. If you choose wisely it's one of the more comfortable cars in the class, and the 1.3 DIG-T 140 petrol engine also impresses. The Seat Ateca and Skoda Karoq are roomier and better to drive, though.

Trim: N-Connecta

We can certainly see why you’d be tempted by N-Connecta, which adds privacy glass, bigger 18in wheels and keyless entry to everything you get with Acenta Premium. You get more safety kit, too, including blind spot warning and a rear cross traffic alert, plus a 360-deg camera system.

Engine: 1.5 dCi 115

This 113bhp 1.5-litre diesel is worth a look if you’re a high-mileage driver. It isn’t particularly quick in terms of outright acceleration, but it delivers its power smoothly and is pretty gutsy from low revs, so never feels frustratingly tardy. It will also prove the most frugal of the Qashqai's engines. If you need more shove or four-wheel drive, look to the 1.7-litre diesel.
