You'll find it tough to get a discount on the 206, but prices are pretty low to start with. Residual values are only a fraction worse than the 207's, too, so they're far from catastrophic. Other running costs are pretty low on both versions, too – the diesel will return an average of 64.2mpg.
Peugeot 206 Hatchback quality & reliability
The 206's cabin definitely reflects its status as a 'last-generation' model. The plastics are cheap and unappealing, the fabrics are gaudy and the design is outdated. While it may not look and feel very nice, though, we know that the materials will stand up reasonably well to hard use.
Peugeot 206 Hatchback safety & security
All versions come with anti-lock brakes and twin front airbags, but side 'bags are an optional extra and curtain 'bags and stability control are merely wishful thinking. However, the 206 achieved four stars in Euro NCAP’s crash tests which, considering its age, isn't bad. An engine immobiliser and visible VIN number is about as far as the security kit goes, though.
