The Peugeot 208 sits in the small car class, one of the most fiercely contested classes in the UK. There are some seriously strong contenders in it, such as the spacious Skoda Fabia, the dynamically impressive Ford Fiesta and classy Volkswagen Polo.

Peugeot knows that plenty of people are downsizing to save money, but aren’t willing to compromise on quality. Its 208 has one of the classiest cabins of any small car, while standard equipment, both luxury and safety, is generous across the range. It also comes with a range of clean, fuel-efficient engines.

While it might look and feel good inside, though, the 208 offers merely average rear passenger and boot space. It’s also difficult for the driver to get comfortable and find their way around its infotainment system. Furthermore, the 208 is not as good to drive as many rivals, particularly the Ford Fiesta.
