Review

Stylish, practical and good to drive, the well-equipped Peugeot 3008 is one of the best family SUVs you can buy. Go for the entry-level 1.2 PureTech engine unless you're a company car driver; a Plug-in Hybrid model will offer lower monthly BIK payments. There are better PHEV SUVs out there, though, and the Skoda Karoq is an even more practical alternative to regular models.

We reckon mid-spec Allure trim is the pick of the 3008 range. It adds keyless entry, power-folding door mirrors, 18in alloys and a slightly posher interior to everything you get with entry-level Active. You also get a bit more safety kit.

This entry-level 129bhp diesel engine combines decent flexibility with impressive refinement. It’s no ball of fire, but it’s perfectly adequate for a family SUV.
