The model
Read full reviewAbove all, sports SUVs have to be fast and fun, and the Porsche Macan absolutely delivers on those points. Especially when equipped with air suspension, it can turn from comfortable cruiser to backroad bruiser at the flick of a switch. Interior quality impresses, too, but there are more spacious rivals out there for the money.

See full equipmentYou get a fair bit for your money with the Macan, including 18in alloy wheels, a powered tailgate, cruise control, part-Alcantara seats (with eight-way electric adjustment on the driver’s side), three-zone climate control, front and rear parking sensors, sat-nav, Apple CarPlay, a DAB radio, Bluetooth, LED headlights, a 10-speaker 150-watt stereo, lane departure warning, power-folding door mirrors and automatic lights and wipers.
The engine
See full engine specsThe 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder offers decent performance, but for a Sports SUV is found wanting. It lacks the shove of the more powerful S, which means you have to rev it harder, and when you do that it sounds limp and uses plenty of fuel. We'd avoid it if possible.
