The Renault Megane E-Tech is well worth considering if you're looking for an electric car that’s comfortable and quiet on motorways. What’s more, the official range is respectable (although having different battery sizes to choose from would be better) and there’s plenty of standard kit. On the other hand, the Megane’s disappointing predicted depreciation and tight back seats hold it back from being a class leader. We’d go for entry-level Techno trim to maximise value.
The trim
Techno trim is the mid-range trim and adds 20in alloy wheels, adaptive LED headlights, rear privacy glass, adaptive cruise control and an upgraded six-speaker sound system on top of the kit you get with Evolution.
The engine
The 60kWh battery is paired with a 215bhp electric motor for an official range of 280 miles and a 0-62mph time of just 7.5sec.
