The Mégane RS isn’t the fastest hot hatch in the world, but it’s great fun to drive and cheaper than most rivals

Trim:

Trophy

Building on the spec of the 280, the Trophy gets the more focused Cup suspension settings as standard, along with uprated brakes that are lighter and more fade resistant, a lighter battery, larger 19in wheels, on-board performance telemetry and an Alcantara-trimmed steering wheel.

Engine:

1.8 300

This is essentially the same 1.8-litre engine that’s in lesser versions of the Megane RS, but with a quicker acting turbocharger and a freer flowing exhaust. It doesn't feel massively faster (0-60mph took 5.7sec in our tests), but it sounds significantly fruitier.
