The Seat Ibiza is one of the best small cars you can buy thanks to its tidy handling, roomy interior and low running costs. Go for the 1.0 TSI 95 engine and SE Technology or FR trim to get the best value for money.

FR Sport gets you all of the FR trim equipment plus larger 18in alloy wheels, a 10.25in digital cockpit, a faux-suede interior and storage pockets on the backs of the front seats. Too pricey to recommend, though.

Our pick of the three engines on offer. It has 94bhp and is turbocharged so it pulls more eagerly from low revs and whisks the Ibiza up to speed in a surprisingly brisk fashion. Wondering how briskly? Well, in our tests it managed 0-60mph in 9.8 seconds.
