The Skoda Enyaq is practical, good to drive, smart inside and well-equipped. Perhaps most impressive of all, though, is the value it offers; the 60 version is priced in line with smaller alternatives, including the Kia Niro EV. The 60 has a fine range for everyday journeys plus the odd family holiday, but we'd advise going for the 80 if you regularly drive long distances.

Sportline trim gets you more aggressive styling and sports suspension, although it's not uncomfortably firm. It also includes a heated windscreen, three-zone climate control, keyless entry, wireless phone-charging, privacy glass, acoustic side windows, matrix LED headlights, a heated steering wheel, front and rear parking sensors, a rear-view camera, 20in alloy wheels, leather and Alcantara seat trim and carbon-effect highlights.

The more powerful motor option has 201bhp. However, the '80' has to lug around a heavier battery pack than the '60' version, so acceleration isn't much different, with 0-62mph in 8.7sec. It has a much longer official range, though: 333 miles and it can charge at up to 125kW, if you tick the right option box.
